How to use

1. Gather Your Supplies

  • Derma Pen: Ensure it's a high-quality device suitable for home use.
  • Sterilized Needles: Always use a new needle cartridge for each session.
  • Alcohol Wipes: For disinfecting the skin and the device.
  • Numbing Cream (optional): For reducing discomfort.
  • Hydrating Serum: Helps to glide the derma pen smoothly over the skin.
  • Cotton Pads and Clean Towels: For cleaning and drying the skin.

2. Prepare Your Skin

  • Cleanse: Wash your face thoroughly with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup.
  • Disinfect: Use an alcohol wipe to disinfect your skin. Allow it to dry completely.

3. Apply Numbing Cream (Optional)

  • If you have a low pain tolerance, apply a numbing cream to the treatment area and wait about 20-30 minutes for it to take effect.
  • Wipe off the cream completely before starting the treatment.

4. Assemble the Derma Pen

  • Attach a new, sterilized needle cartridge to the derma pen.
  • Set the needle depth according to your skin's needs. For beginners, it’s advisable to start with a shorter needle length (e.g., 0.25-0.5mm).

5. Apply Serum

  • Apply a hydrating or hyaluronic acid serum to the area you’re going to treat. This helps the pen glide more easily and provides extra hydration to the skin.

6. Using the Derma Pen

  • Technique: Hold the pen at a 90-degree angle to the skin. Move it in small, circular motions or in straight lines. Be gentle, especially in delicate areas.
  • Coverage: Divide your face into sections (forehead, cheeks, chin, etc.), and treat one section at a time. Avoid going over the same area too many times to prevent irritation.
  • Pressure: Apply gentle pressure. The needles should penetrate the skin, but you shouldn't force them.

7. Post-Treatment Care

  • Cleanse: After the treatment, cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser to remove any residue.
  • Disinfect: Clean the derma pen and discard the used needle cartridge.
  • Apply Serum/Moisturizer: Reapply a hydrating serum and follow up with a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer.
  • Avoid Makeup: Don’t apply makeup for at least 24 hours after treatment to prevent irritation.
  • Sun Protection: Wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30, as your skin will be more sensitive to sunlight after treatment.

8. Aftercare

  • Hydration: Keep your skin well-hydrated in the days following the treatment.
  • Avoid Harsh Products: Steer clear of exfoliants, retinoids, or any harsh products for a few days after treatment.
  • Monitor Skin: Watch for any signs of infection (excessive redness, swelling, pus) and consult a dermatologist if you notice anything unusual.

9. Frequency of Treatment

  • For shorter needles (0.25-0.5mm), you can use the derma pen every 1-2 weeks.
  • For longer needles (0.75mm and above), wait 4-6 weeks between treatments to allow your skin to heal fully.

10. Precautions

  • Consultation: If you have any skin conditions (e.g., acne, eczema, rosacea), consult a dermatologist before using a derma pen.
  • Avoid Active Acne or Broken Skin: Don’t use the derma pen on active acne, open wounds, or irritated skin.
  • Sterility: Always use sterilized equipment and maintain a clean environment to prevent infections.

Using a derma pen at home requires careful attention to detail and hygiene, but with proper care, it can be a safe and effective way to enhance your skin’s appearance.

What's micro needling

Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that uses tiny, fine needles to create small punctures in the skin. These tiny wounds trigger the body's natural healing process, leading to the production of more collagen and elastin—proteins that help keep skin smooth and firm. This procedure can improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of scars and wrinkles, and make pores look smaller. It's a popular choice for those looking to rejuvenate their skin and achieve a healthier, more youthful complexion.
